The Kentucky Derby Features the Equine Art of Chicago Artist Thomas Allen Pauly

The Fine Art of Racing and The Game is pleased to announce that the artwork of equine artist Thomas Allen Pauly, who has portrayed many of the greatest
Thoroughbreds and jockeys in the sport of horse racing, will once again be
featured in a solo art exhibit
at the 2011 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.

"I have always been fascinated by the excitement and the beauty of horse racing
and the regal jockeys up on their elegant champions," Pauly says.
"I have photographed and sketched every Derby since 1999 and I still get choked up during the playing of My Old Kentucky Home as they go to post."

The show will run May 6 - May 7 at the historic Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The Fine Art of Racing gallery will be located on the 5th floor Finish Line Suites Terrace.

The Game will present Pauly's collection of Thoroughbreds and jockeys inspired by his extensive travels throughout the country. The exhibit will feature original oils, watercolors and graphites. Among the highlights of the exhibition is the portrait of three time Kentucky Derby champion jockey Calvin Borel in the silks of last year's Kentucky Derby owner WinStar Farms. Throughout the event, Mr. Pauly will also be painting live at his Fine Art of Racing gallery.

Thomas Allen Pauly, The Fine Art of Racing

Since 1978, award-winning equine artist Thomas Allen Pauly has portrayed some of the finest horses and jockeys in the country. Born and raised in Chicago, his love of the sport emerged in the Sportsman's Park's winner circle when his friend's horse named Rusty Win captured the feature race by five lengths. He was hooked.

Pauly depicted the who's who in Thoroughbred racing in a portrait series commissioned by Arlington International Racecourse. In 2006, Churchill Downs selected Pauly as the Official Artist of the 2006 Kentucky Derby Commemorative Print. His painting of Barbaro was published as their Official Fan Appreciation Commemorative Art Print.

In 2010 & 2011, Churchill Downs invited Pauly to have a solo art exhibit during the
Kentucky Derby and Oaks. Also, his artwork was featured on the hit reality show
Undercover Boss which featured the COO of Churchill Downs Bill Carstenjen.
Pauly was recently selected as the Official Artist of the 2011 Iroquois Steeplechase.

He is an avid supporter of The Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

Pauly's portraits are known for their accuracy, their energy, their sentiment and their
celebration of achievement. To view Thomas Allen Pauly's portfolio, please visit
